West Lakefront, Old & New
Story: West Lakefront, Old and New-pantalone

I grew up in Sicily, rich in history even by the standards of the Old World. Greek, Carthaginian, Arabic, Norman, and Roman are some of the cultures that left their mark there. Arriving in Toronto as a teenager, I was drawn to places that reflect our history.
My City prospers without destroying all historical vestiges that make it a special place. During the War of 1812, Fort York was a site of a decisive battle that will be commemorated in 2012 when two legacy projects will be unveiled: the Fort York Pedestrian & Cycling Bridge and a Visitors’ Centre.
Nearby, there is room for the new and old at Exhibition Place: the restoration of the historic Music Building, the incorporation of historical buildings into the Direct Energy Centre, and Toronto FC entering its third season at Canada’s only major purpose-built soccer stadium: BMO Field. What’s next? Making Exhibition Place energy self-sufficient by 2010! That’s my city.
