Story: Coxwell Stables
-bonamister

Coxwell Stables received Honourable Mention from the Ontario Renews program (1985) and an Award of Merit from the Toronto Historical Board (1986).
Item is an award presented by the Toronto Historical Board to the Metropolitan Toronto Parks and Property Department, in recognition of outstanding contributions in preserving the history of the city, March 6, 1985. The award is signed by Art Eggleton, Mayor of Toronto, R. Scott James, Managing Director of the board, and the board's chairman.

Coxwell Stables, in the neighbourhood of Coxwell and Gerrard, have existed for more than 100 years. The conversion of the stables into a residential use required extensive modifications to the interior. The exterior of the building was retained for its historical look. The scheme for converting the stables into a residential use adapted the natural module of the buildings. Each 4-stall space became one “townhouse” unit.

I have lived here for 2 years and love it. I also found out that a writer used to live here.
