Story: St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts
-uberjonny

I live in the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood and feel fortunate to live so close to the most diverse theatre facility in Toronto. The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts serves my love of theatre and performing arts exquisitely, it has provided me with many wonderful hours of escapist entertainment and thought provoking insight. Where else could I be so close to Chita Rivera, Andrea Martin, Jackie Richardson, or Fiona Reid and then come back a few hours later to sit in on a talk about the inner city at a public forum? The intimacy of both theatres in the centre provides a welcoming environment to settle down and watch a play or musical presented by the Canadian Stage Company or a chamber music concert by Music Toronto. I love the fact that every week brings to life a different colour in the wide spectrum of performing arts.
I have to admit I was worried that the centre would lose some of it's homey feel with it's recent renovation but I was pleasantly surprised that it made a theatre that is going into it's 40th season feel current and alive in this modern frantic world. A real jewel.
