St. Lawrence Market
-created by Doug Wiebe
About
Very historic area with the oldest market still functioning in Toronto. Some very old structures still stand including St. Lawrence Hall, on the site of the original town hall, and St. James Cathedral. The park beside the Cathedral is reported to have many people buried there following an epidemic. The little drummer boy who lead the troops into battle in 1813 is also buried there. There are excellent walking tours about the area. Front Street was once consider the waterfront, although it is hard to imagine. Observe how you can see the St. James Cathedral tower from Front St. The building were not allowed to block the view. The Market is a wonderful place for shopping for food and for eating. The park by St. James is a great place to relax and always has a gorgeous flower garden inperfect condition.... a favourite spot for all the condo dwellers in the area.
